"Dislikes... small talk that goes nowhere"

And they wanted to launch this for incels? I don't think they know their audience.

This kinda reminds me of the 2016/7/7 BLM protest where a guy brought a firearm with no bullet chambered, as a point about the right to self-defense. But when another person started shooting cops, he turned himself in as a precaution.

I wonder if Gamboa intended something similar.

Oh my goodness, thanks so much! That makes a lot of sense. The Hive Spider was released in Dungeon Magazine 92, from May/June of 2002, with The Savage Caves releasing in July 2002. I'd assumed they were simple Monstrous Spiders, but this changes some things for a project.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply. What piqued my interest about them was that resources would work like they do in game, from duration to spell components to spell slots.

Additional question, but was there an expectation that you use D&D specific monsters (krenshar) as opposed to just generic goblins and orcs?

I found them recently and they're charmingly quirky. The more I referenced the sourcebooks while reading them, the more it looks like these were guidelines for the books. But also, I can't find any posts online from WotC that affirms this editorial mindset. Any truth to this?
