Sad update-the LB Harbor minke whale did not survive. The whale was repeatedly guided out of the basin but continuously returned.

There is very little that can be done for a live, mobile whale of this size (to try to evaluate an illness or in any way "help" it).

Four days and counting! A minke whale somehow made its way deep into Long Beach Harbor and doesn't seem eager to leave.

The whale seems healthy...it doesn't look lethargic or emaciated, and isn't showing signs of stress.

A new North Atlantic right whale calf was born this week, making a real splash to help prevent this species’ extinction!

Mother ‘Grand Teton’ was seen with her 9th known calf. At least 44 years old, she is one of the older North Atlantic right whale mammas.
