Spring is the season for transitions and rapid growth.

Like the apple tree buds and plans to grow fruit this year, so can you.

• Pick one of your problems, spend the growing season solving it
• Grow it over 6-9
• months
• Reflect and review over the winter
• Grow new goals again in the spring

I made a flute with my 4 year old yesterday.

What is the last thing you created?

Where you took raw materials and turned it into something else?

If you post here you take thoughts and turn them to a story.

If you made food you took ingredients and made a meal.

Find the joy in everyday creation.

Awesome tree. What stories does this massive stump have to tell?

Life's pretty serious sometimes. Don't let it get you down.

Accept that it can be hard, but look for the fun, the enjoyment, the mysterious unknown, and the silly.

Embrace the duality of mixed feelings.

You choose where to put your focus, choose the things that make you and others happy.

Yesterday, this was a branch on a Japanese maple. Today it is a spoon for my son to use.

Crafting is a great way to learn about the natural world, and yourself. From this, I learned that Japanese maple wood is brittle, carves well, and has low tannins.

I also remembered patience and to go slow.

No matter what you are chasing in life, remember to slow down and find the enjoyment in the journey.

How?

Take a moment to close your eyes and listen - what is the quietest sound you hear? The loudest? What is happening behind you?

Can you hear your heart beating?

Can you feel your breath?

Change happens, control it where you can.

Sunday is a good day to reflect on last week and think about the next.

What made you feel good last week? What made you smile? With what plants and animals did you connect?

How can you bring more of that joy into life this week? What can you do better?

The beast came back from checking in on the neighbors.

The birds aren't happy about it, and the juncos are titting their little black heads off overhead. There was a song sparrow, but she ditched it across the street before the cat jumped the fence.

Great walk around the neighborhood with the kids last night.

Ate some windfall apples, the last of the season's black berries, a few salal berries, fresh hazelnuts. Watched a deer feed.

Loving the slow transition to fall colors before the leaves fall.

Get out in nature every day, even just a bit!

I failed goals this year - did you?

As leaves turn gold and red, our thoughts turn inward. We feel the fading of the year and the longing of lost opportunities.

What did you fail to achieve this year?

What stops you from getting it?

Get started now - do one thing to move closer to your goal.

Lovely little dinosaur on Puget Sound, WA, USA.

If only I had the patience of a heron, unfortunately I only have their singing voice - SQUAWK!

Feeling disconnected?

Sit a moment and look for a living plant - a weed in a sidewalk or a tree - size doesn't matter, the lessons are the same.

Breathe. Grow.
Be in your place, in your now, in your nature.
Each day is a chance for a community - even with a plant.

What is your nature telling you?
