Bootstrapping lavish.so 🪄 the Mailchimp alternative that just works. Sold 3 startups. Occasionally write on wilbertliu.com. Still changing diapers after pushing to production.
We didn't make it to the top 3, but that's okay!

Thank you for your support for this little tool. If you happen to make something cool with it, please don't be hesitant to tell me 😉

Cheers! 🥂

Climbed to the 4th place, thanks to @poppacalypse.bsky.social 🎉🫶

Can we get to the 3rd place? 🤞

I had an interesting conversation with a potential competitor—yes, you read it right: competitor—about whether or not he can make money by copying Lavish. Here is the most important part 👇

If you are bullish about email marketing, don't hold yourself back and start shipping!

I have been working on Lavish around 3 months, but I realized I haven't launched it on product discovery platforms like
PH.

Well, I also heard horrible stories from indies that had not been covered.

Is @uneed.best the go-to indie platform for launching these days?

Shipping one last feature before Christmas ⛴️

Please welcome automation to Lavish! 🎉 I'm so excited to see use cases unfold from this.

Merry Christmas! ☃️

There’s no better way to wrap up 2024 than this:

Lavish has reached $828 ARR! 🎉

I dedicate this post to all makers who are still finding their first few customers.

Is there anything you want to know behind the scenes? I might write a blog post to unpack more.

✨ Just shipped: A cleaner, simpler way to update contact details in Lavish.

🎯 Focused on:
– Ease of use
– Visual clarity
– Flexibility with tags & fields

Every detail counts. Any feedback? 👇

Rails + Inertia tip ⚡

Avoid using `default_render` if you’re also using views from gems!

I ran into issues with Litestream and Mission Control Jobs dashboards because Inertia hijacks every and does its magic.

Instead, add `render inertia: true` for actions that need it.

Shipping one of the most requested features ✨

You can now send campaigns to specific segments or tags in Lavish. Keep it personal, keep it simple.

Who’s excited to try this out? 👀

Just shipped a contact import summary 🎉

– See what was imported & skipped
– Error reports make fixing issues a breeze
– Clear CTA to keep you moving

Late to the party, but hey, better late than never!

The prompt:
Based on what you know of me, draw a picture of what my life currently looks like.

The result 👇

Nailed it! Can confirm this is 💯% accurate. 😅

I promise → I deliver 💫

Here is the result of landing page revamp since 10 days ago, particularly for visitor to signup conversion.

It works! 🙌

6.7% looks good here. I'll keep it as is for a while and let's see what I can do down the funnel.

Anything you'd like to know?

When @tailwindcss.com enters the gym...

Well played @adamwathan.com, well played! 🔥

And if you pay attention closely, this is smart. The top padding is exactly the treadmill.

16-pixel treadmill? Who is in? 😄

Just talked to my therapist ❇️

And he told me to pass a message to you.

If you run an indie business, have a family, or even kids, you should lift that damn weight! Everything else will fall into place.

Agree or disagree?

A few days later…

I have more followers here than on any other platform.

And no, that’s not the most important thing.

Guess what?

I met more people here in the indie-making, bootstrapping, and #buildinpublic community, which I appreciate the most 🥳

I’m thankful that Bluesky exists 😊

Do you know what I'm working on right now?

What should I add next?

Thoughts from the iron land 🏋️‍♂️

More people should stop doing 12 startups in 12 months.

Instead, do a full marketing month.

Why though? 🤔

Because there is no profitable space without competition. You should find your edge in the market, not building another product.

Thoughts?

🆕 Shipped an analytics for sent campaigns.

It's a more detailed view than the dashboard.

– Total sent
– Delivered count
– Opened count
– Clicked count
- And more... 👨‍🍳
