What a very fun puzzle book. I solved the mystery, but only after writing down a timeline and a few notes and agonizing over random clues that turned out to be either meaningless or red herrings. Great illustrations.

I read Miss Ruki throughout the day. What a treat to look at, and the translator's essay does a great job contextualizing it to the changing women's cultures of the 1980s and 90s.

For this October's Witch-Watch, I tried the 2004 Japanese remake of Bewitched. It's cute, and interesting to see the sitcom reworked as more of a romcom drama. The Samantha character lacks Elizabeth Montgomery's moxie, but the other characters match their American analogues pretty closely.
