Building saasyDB.com - SaaS company database for marketers.

I like coffee shops and talkin' biz. I've got a lovely wife, two young daughters, and an old ass cat who got the diabetes now, but she is still cute.

Goodness, gracious. This piece is among the best I’ve read in awhile. Great work @adamgurri.liberalcurrents.com.
“They have betrayed the society that enriched them, and have put us at serious risk of authoritarianism, ethnic cleansing, lawlessness, and stagnation. They have betrayed the values that made that society great, values which they apparently only ever held superficially”
Marc Andreessen Is a Traitor
It is the tech oligarchs, not young radicals, who have turned against the system that made them.

Working on a batch of SaaS companies now, the first big chunk of research to go into the system when the "company data only" offer is live, about 20k companies

GetLatka has about 40k SaaS companies, and my goal is to have more than them by the end of this quarter 😎

I'm hiring a VA to speed up the most boring, monotonous aspects of my research on SaaS companies

Goal is to launch an offer for just SaaS company data within saasyDB, for people who just want good clean lists of SaaS companies, and they can get the leads elsewhere

Exciting times

"No one does SaaS better than saasyDB" says one of my users

I'm trying to build the best SaaS database possible

What is wild is that it's totally possible for me to do so.

1. The US Transgender Survey has finally been released, and the results are stunning.

- <1% of people are less satisfied after HRT.
- The most common reason for detransition, pausing transition, or stopping transition is transphobia.

The latest from S. Baum.

Largest Trans Survey Ever: Top Reason Trans People Stop Transitioning Is Transphobia
“In almost every single case, the reason was anti-trans discrimination in the form of pressure to ‘detransition’ from one’s family, friends, or community.”

Cold Slack DMs feel promising as a marketing channel. I’m going to lean into them, then make a guide about how to automate them. Drop a comment if you want the guide when I record it.

Build in Public update: adding a “Legacy” filter to my SaaS company database so users can sort companies that are more than twenty years old.

It requires an update to the data, but that allows me to update funding info on all the companies and fill in some missing data bits 😎

I got @thatwriterjon.bsky.social to do a positioning audit on my startup, saasyDB, and it was amazing.

If you're serious about your startup/SaaS and want to make sure you're positioning it properly for conversion and signups, talk to him (for free) jonmcgreevy.com/positioning-...

Starting a little cold email experiment:

One campaign to ~2000 leads, and it's a mix of templates that I've written.

Another campaign to ~2000 leads, and it's a mix of templates written by a psychology based cold email writer GPT.

Which do you think will perform best?

We'll find out in a week

I just really need everybody to understand that everything that’s happening in and to the global economy now (and all the businesses and people in it) is the entirely predictable result of the intentional decisions of one guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works.

SaaS pricing is such a bear. Redoing saasyDB's pricing now. I am...
1) Reviewing competitors' pricing, and confirming I'm way too cheap
2) Simplifying things, and having two plans, a standard one and an unlimited one
3) Eliminating Lifetime Deals, offering monthly and annual plans only

I launched an alpha version of a feature for my startup today that I’ve been working on for a year. It feels awesome.

1. Today, the Trump administration's HHS Dept., under RFK Jr., released a review of transgender healthcare.

It has no authors. It pushes pseudoscience and conversion therapy. It does not follow a scientific process.

My fact check of the Trump HHS review.

My big goals for the week for saasyDB:
1- Prep and start a new batch of research on SaaS companies
2- Finish the employee search page and invite select beta users to it
3- Cull non-SaaS companies from the database

What are your big goals for the week?

My main goal for this week is to get the research system for saasyDB up and running again. I foolishly have not been researching more and more SaaS companies for the database. I'd ideally research and add employee info for 1,000 SaaS companies a week to the system.
April 21, 2025 at 2:01 PM
A user asked me to pull SaaS company leads data for him manually, and I realized that finishing up an alpha version of the employee search page was doable and the easiest way to just get his data out. And it was pretty exciting to actually use this page for the first time.

I've got my "AI-enabled SaaS double checker" up and running

WTF is that? basically it shows the content of a site to chatGPT and says "Are you sure this is a SaaS company?"
