I vaguely recollect borrowing M. Scorsese's 1985 film After Hours on VHS from a local library decades ago, but that's about all I recall. During a re-watch of Ted Lasso, I was informed the episode Beard After Hours is a homage to this film, hence the reason I'm revisiting it.

I camped out for Black Friday, and got up at 3:00 am.
By "camped out" I mean in the great outdoors in a remote region with no cellular service, no internet access, and nary a retail establishment for miles. I only got up at 3:00 am to answer nature's call (i.e. nature's other calling).

Your post reminds me of a meme I made a few years ago (back when Elon essentially thew the "Verified by Twitter" checkmark's credibility under the proverbial bus).

The character Jamie was being played by substitute actor Hamish Wilson during The Mind Robber story on account Frazer Hines was contending with a bout of the Chicken Pox. The writers cleverly wrote his change of appearance into the story. The meme's gag is that the name "Frazer Hines" is written above Hamish, who's now been Twitter verified.

I remember reviewing the #DoctorWho story Time Heist for my podcast back when it first premiered and liking it a bit better than my co-hosts. For whatever reason, the fact that #JonathanBailey was the actor who played Psi completely escaped me until I revisited the episode yesterday.

In addition to playing the Munchkin Coroner of Oz in MGM's The Wizard of Oz, Meinhardt was an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile "Little Oscar" spokesperson/chef. Several altered W.W. Denslow illustrations appear in the book to denote chapters, including this one of "Little Oscar" and the Wienermobile in Oz.🌭

I didn't know this book existed until today. It's teeming with illustrations depicting Meinhardt Raabe as the Munchkin coroner character he played in MGM's the Wizard of Oz. The list of contributing artists is mind-blowing.

Added bonus: this copy is signed by #MeinhardtRaabe.

The book features over 50 illustrations of actor Meinhardt Raabe as the Munchkin coroner he played in MGM's The Wizard of Oz. In light of Tatsuya Nakadai's recent passing, I've decided to bump Akira Kurosawa's RAN to the top of my to-watch queue, as I've never seen it. I'm a bit too knackered to start a movie with a runtime of 2 hours & 40 minutes tonight, so I'll likely view it over the weekend.

This is The Colour of Magic comic book adaptation issue #1 published by Innovation in 1991. #TerryPratchett kindly signed all my #Discworld comics and several of my DW novels during a visit to independent bookseller Future Fantasy in Palo Alto, CA (circa the late '90s).

Depicted is my copy of issue number 1 of Innovation's comic adaptation of Terry Pratchett's fantasy novel The Colour of Magic (comic book adapted by Scott Rockwell, Steve Ross and Dærick Gröss Sr.) The issue is signed by original author Terry Pratchett. Terry kindly signed all of my Discworld comics issues (i.e. both Innovation's The Colour of Magic & The Light Fantastic series plus the Mort: A Discworld Big Comic). He also signed several other novels during his visit to the independently run bookstore Future Fantasy located in Palo Alto, CA. This was circa the late '90s. As I recall, Terry was on tour promoting his then new book The Fifth Elephant. Future Fantasy didn't have the marketing reach as the local Barnes & Noble where I attended a Terry Pratchett signing at a few years later when Terry was promoting Monstrous Regiment. That proved to be both a blessing and a curse. It was a blessing because there wasn't a huge line at the independent bookstore, but people (myself included) were purchasing numerous Terry Pratchett books in store (as this particular specialty store also stocked the UK import editions). Fewer people in attendance at the independent books shop meant Terry could dedicate more time to each attendee and sign more books, which he did. However, not having the market reach as the big name stores was a curse in that the independent retailer couldn't compete with big name stores on a regular basis, so a few years after that The Fifth Elephant tour signing event, Future Fantasy closed its doors for good.

I can't take credit for the concept, for I've seen other people make similar carvings, but I liked the idea enough to have a go at it. Plus, I was pressed for time this year, so I wanted something that I could crank out fairly quickly.

I updated my profile with a picture of the #Wicked -themed pumpkin I carved for #Halloween last year. I'm not sure what this year's carving will be. I won't have as much time to work on it before trick-or-treaters star arriving, so it likely won't be as intricate as carvings I've done in years past.
