Once again, there is an ACLU petition specifically made to stop Mastercard from unlawfully policing adult content. It’s getting pretty grim for us out there. Please sign and/or spread the word.

This kind of thing is also deeply baked into Gundam, which also got its start at the tail end of that period
you see the dregs of this in both Warhammer 40k and Star Trek, the idea that telepathy was not just theoretically possible but destined to be proved real was huge in the 70s / early 80s and it colored a lot of sci-fi
In the Exorcist (1971) book the priest has trouble telling if the girl was possessed or just exhibiting the telepathic powers common among teens.
