At J’s game yesterday her teammate batted the puck into their own net to put them down 1-0. She was so embarrassed and asked the coach to take her off the ice. He said absolutely not, go get it back.
And she did! Scored the same shift, the game ended 1-1, she was named player of the game 😂

Abby just played the best game of her life and got a shutout. All the parents told me she has to do whatever she did last night before every game and what she did last night was go to a girl guide sleepover. When we picked her up we asked if she got a good sleep and she said “…I had fun!”

Parent-teacher interviews went well and I cleared out the pile of hoodies and random junk from the bottom of Abigail’s locker. A productive morning!

I guess I should be grateful that my kid gave me a full 48 hours notice that she is doing the optional *outdoor* camping with girl guides this weekend. Gives me one day to hunt down all the extra stuff on her kit list.

Abby came home from her first week of kindergarten with a bunch of art work where her name was written by a teacher. I asked her why she didn’t write her own name and she told me that if you leave it blank a teacher just does it for you! Like, can’t believe those other kids are wasting their time!

Our new giant recycling bin has arrived and it’s almost 4’ tall and holds 95 GALLONS. There is no room for it in the garage (we park there!) so I guess we just… have an enormous blue bin in our front yard now??

To add a little excitement to our day Abby has a *very* loose tooth and she will not let me pull it but also needs to figure out wtf to do if it falls out in the middle of her game.

The girls have their home hockey tournament this weekend which means I have gathered 1 billion or so snacks and a truckload of craft supplies to last us the (not exaggerating) 13 hours we will spend at the arena tomorrow.

Multiple parents have told me I’m so calm when Abigail’s in goal and I just need everyone to know that I feel like I’m going to barf the whole time I just know she looks at me a lot throughout the game so I have to pretend I am unbothered.

Abby is filling the Blue Jays void by getting into NHL games. Any game will do! The Leafs have a sponsor patch that just says Milk (from the Dairy Farmers of Ontario) and she has a lot of questions about why tf milk is a sponsor.

This squishmallow is Abigail’s team mascot and when they go to collect it after warm ups it is always stuck to the ice and the poor girl who picks it up panics a little every single time. A+ entertainment.

It’s been such a weird, warm fall and now we are expecting snow this weekend. It’s not that early for snow! But I am absolutely not ready.

We did it! I am home and in sweat pants all is right with the world. Jules went to get info on the visual arts specialty program and walked away also very into the theatre program (???) so she is going to apply to both.
I have to take Jules to a high school information session tonight (!!!!) but it’s already dark out so I would really rather just hibernate.

Trying to expand Abby’s palate a liiiittle bit since she doesn’t like any kind of casserole or soup or anything where all the foods are mixed together. She will now eat shepherds pie! And said the stew I made this week “wasn’t terrible”! She likes lasagna after insisting for years it was disgusting!

One of the monthly specials at our local cafe is a Nutella latte. They line the inside of the cup with a bit of Nutella before the pour the drink in and then give you a wooden spoon so you can eat it when you’re done.

For the first time in forever we have no kid activity to run to and no Jays game to plan our evening around 😂 we watched every single playoff game so now we have a whole lot of extra time on our hands.
