This is what a "pickup truck" was 30 years ago.

It didnt have a "hemi' or whatever, nor did it comfortably seat five, it just carried stuff from one place to another, and was relatively cheap and easy to maintain.
A pickup truck -- a ca. 1980s pickup truck, I think -- that is tiny by 2025 standards, but is the pickup truck that America had a couple of decades ago, and is totally capable of meeting our current needd, IMO.

As far as I cam tell, the only reason we still have paper clips in our house is that sometimes electronic devices need to be hard reset.
A paper clip -- the bent-wire metal oval kind -- with one end bent out about 50 degrees. It's sitting on a dark wood countertop.

The daylily bed got pretty trashed this year, by branches that blew down in a storm, but daylilies gonna daylily.

Deane's Dream starting to flower, rather early, I think.

The branches that blew down in our recent storm pretty much trashed the (main) daylily bed for this year, but daylilies gonna daylilly, so they're still trying.

Thursday's windstorm blew four sizeable branches off a neighbor's Norway Maple and into the daylily bed.

Oh, well.

I am just now realizing that if the 20yo ever sends out a physical resume -- which I kind of doubt she'll ever do, honestly -- she will almost certainly do so using paper that we bought for that specific purpose about 25 years ago and never used up.

We've got a lot of shade, so I'm continuing my hosta love: I believe this is "Deane's Dream," about four years old now.

I love how ridiculously bright yellow Fire Island hostas are.

I know that wisteria is an invasive jerk in my part of the world, but I can't yet bring myself to pull it out.

A small cluster of withered poet's daffodils. At their base, there are a handful of small, bright pink tulips (water lily tulips, I think?), and in a brown pot behind them is the strappy green foliage of daylilies.
