I was able to run the collected samples for nitrogen last week, and the initial results seem to support my hypothesis that the area that was logged in 2022 will have the highest discharged N levels. I am really excited to see if this trend continues as I collect more data. This is so much fun!! [3]

My watershed study compares 8 sites across three land-uses: undisturbed 30-40yr forest, 2013 clear-cut, and 2023 clear-cut. I've collected water samples plus pH, EC, and discharge measurements. Previous research shows logged areas release elevated nitrogen for ~7 years post-harvest. [2]

For a class project, I'm collecting and analyzing water samples from tributaries in my local watershed that flow from logging clear-cuts of various ages. I'm specifically measuring nitrogen levels to determine if recently logged sections show higher concentrations. I'll share some photos.[1]

Katniss was insistent on helping me repair the wiring on old orange a while back. Such an impressive worker, I am truly fortunate to have her help.
