Here's my shot of the tornado that developed to the south of Grinnell, KS yesterday! This is my first tornado! We got hit by the outer circulation and saw the ghost train ram into us with 50-60mph winds. You can see the left edge of the tornado on the left-center of the image, barely.

Long-range models continue to stay locked into the idea of a significant pattern change later this month and likely lasting into February. We won't have any idea how cold we may get or what precipitation we will get until about 1-2 weeks from now... 1/2

Last night's long-range GFS was one of the most beautiful model runs that I have ever seen. No point in going into detail about the specifics of the model run other than the potential for colder air at the end of the month is remaining and increasing still. This deserved to be put in the Louvre!

What an amazing afternoon view of the Pacific Ocean! The storm on the left is now a mature mid-latitude cyclone with a central pressure of 941mb! To put that into perspective, CAT 4 hurricanes have similar pressures. It will bring some gusty winds and rain on Sunday to the PNW.
Looking at some satellite imagery we can see that we have a cyclone Christmas party over the Pacific Ocean with 3 strong storms. These will steer multiple fronts through the PNW through the weekend.

Out over the northwestern Pacific, there is a powerful bomb cyclone that had an incredibly low pressure of 933mb! That is the equivalent pressure of a stout CAT 4 hurricane. This storm near the Aleutian Islands will help to steer many weather systems towards the PNW.
