Secondly
Piranesi, Susanna Clarke
A genuinely odd story that starts in detailed close-up and gradually pans out as the novel progresses to give a full picture only at the end.
I will definitely read this one again.
Fits no pigeonhole.

Firstly
Karla’s Choice, Nick Harkaway
Fills in a lot of the Smiley books’ backstories in a well written story that feels genuinely in the mould of Le Carre.
A satisfying ending with the same familiar bittersweet melancholy.

I feel like a painting in her attic.

Went up to do a bit watering.
Came back with surprise early stuff.
Those are the first edible figs that tree has given out - and they are lush.
