It didn't occur to me until just recently, but some future version of Paul Cooper will be writing about the decades I've been alive and the decline and fall of the American experiment.

Perhaps I'm antisocial but my first inclination when I am followed by a stranger is to assume that there is bad intent. I am nobody. I am just here to read, and occasionally engage with some people if I have something to contribute. I reserve the right to block, since I can't remove a follower.

I'm old enough to remember conservative objections to single payer health care by saying that it would result in "death panels" who would decide what procedures would get paid. It turns out, the death panels are in the insurance companies... Who knew?

It's been an exhausting week so far, but today is a good day. Mom's surgery was a success and she's recovering well. Thanksgiving can mean different things. Today I'm thankful for all the doctors and nurses and personal care assistants taking such good care of Mom.

I have always loved Star Trek. It wasn't until I got much older that I realized how cautionary and prophetic Roddenberry was. Perhaps it really IS necessary for the slate to be wiped clean before the world without want can be achieved.

Apropos of nothing in particular, but has any one else wondered if much of his mental illness stems from how much he looks like his mother, than his father and his embarrassment about it?
