My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"?

Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...

After more than half a decade on a waiting list I’ve just filled out and sent off the consent form for NHS gender care. Feels very surreal. Not sure it’ll sink in for some time. Definitely a huge positive step in the right direction, though.

ND/education people - has anyone found a discreet chewy for a kid who absolutely does not want to stand out as different? I’ve got a couple of ideas to try but would like to make sure I’ve not missed anything.

Reading (and highly enjoying) the excellent Something Rotten by Jasper Fforde. Wondering if @jasperfforde.bsky.social is actually a time-traveller of some description because WOW some of this is on the nose with current US politics.

Year 3 introduced me to this song yesterday. It’s been 24 hours since I got home and found it on YouTube and I’m not sure it’s ever leaving my head.

Going to see Macbeth in the cinema with 16yo tonight, for “revision” (theoretically at least). Really looking forward to it, have been wanting to see this for ages and could never have managed seeing it live.

Joke's on you, big windy storm!

I still hadn't fixed our garden fence from the last one.

Sometimes at school I’ll mention that a book is a favourite or say that I want to read it, and children are shocked that an adult still enjoys “their” books. It’s led to some really interesting discussions, especially with the kids who are worried they’re too old to like the things they like.
Just a reminder that the books we call "children's books" are really books written for an audience that includes children, but excludes absolutely no-one at all. They are BOOKS FOR EVERYONE - and you can never, ever be too old to read them, and to love them!

There is nothing like a teenager revising Computing to make you feel old. We talked about different types of storage and I tell him about a colleague who used to magnet floppy disks to her whiteboard (with predictable results).

First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because I’ve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.

Finally made the leap over here - now just need to find all the cool people I was following on other apps before they went sideways.
