Finding it hard to concentrate this morning. I’ve been collaborating with some folks at Brown regularly this year. I have a few friends in Sydney, and half of my family is Jewish. My heart is with all of these communities today.

First bike commute of 2025! Weather finally held for a full day so I’m back at it, and with a camera. Cars do seem to behave better when you visibly have one. 👀

Got a pretty convincing phishing email masquerading as a GitHub Security alert. Stay vigilant!

Some folk I know were not appropriately horrified by the national research funding freeze. Wonder what they’ll make of this.

Speechless. Currently in the hospital as the Pediatric Infectious Disease Attending & access to vital info is limited. My duty to each child that I take care of is to have to most up to date information - in order to provide the best possible care. This is unacceptable

Today we play the game “how bad is this dog drool I just discovered on my outfit?” Is it tiny and scratch-able? …removable with a quick spot-clean? …requiring a full change?

If you appreciate getting notices on food and products that can harm you, here’s the Canadian recall alert site: recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/subscribe

It won’t help for products with US-only distribution (& limited help for batch-specific recalls), but it’s better than silence.

Tip from @snowjob.bsky.social

If you have a whitehouse.gov link you want to access and it is down, try replacing "www.whitehouse.gov" with "bidenwhitehouse.archives.gov"

The national archives is still doing its job for now.

Day 1 of bike commute. Coworker taking similar route was hit by a car recently and broke her ankle. Actually, at every workplace I’ve been, I’ve known someone who was hit commuting this way (except in Japan!). Wish me luck! 😬
