That contradicts the info on the link you provided, which says the data is backed up. Centralized servers or not, the data packets have to pass by other cloud providers before arriving there.

I don't know where the time went, but today marks 10 years that I've been on the bird app. After a lot of introspection and thinking over the past few months about what I want for my future, I've also decided today is where I part ways with Twitter. At least for now.
