Our family has gotten just a little bit bigger! Our baby girl is finally here and we are so blessed. I am so grateful for my beautiful wife and her strength which has now brought us two little miracles.

So incredibly blessed. Our daughter is due to arrive in September.

Finally, CONCLAVE

I was engrossed by this film in the first 5 minutes. Great sense of stakes and tension. Satisfying developments throughout. Beautifully shot. I admire how intense a movie that is largely just whispered conversations can be. Ending was mildly underwhelming.

THE SUBSTANCE

This was the one I was most excited for and it largely didn’t disappoint. The sense of looming dread paying off with an excessively over the top ending was satisfying. I was never bored and loved the performances. And hey, a nice wholesome message to boot!

WICKED

My biggest surprise. Not joining a fan club anytime soon, but it’s a crowd pleaser and surely anyone who was even a little excited about this loved it. Bittersweet to know that Hollywood is capable of making high quality remakes that are respectful to the source material

ANORA

Incredible lead performance. Male costar is too young to not know how to act like he’s playing a video game. Mostly a fun ride, but dragged some in the middle. I just never find much humor in people yelling over each other. Same reason I could never get into IASIP much.

DUNE: PART 2

While I liked it more than the first one, the pacing still felt a bit slow. Otherwise I don’t know what my beef is. I should like this a lot more. Maybe you shouldn’t wait until you’re old to see Star Wars for the first time and the same can be said about Dune.

A COMPLETE UNKNOWN

Never got into Dylan so went into this with an open mind hoping to genuinely learn more about him and better appreciate of his music. And to a degree that actually happened. I just didn’t find the conflict very compelling and the plot just wasn’t very eventful

I’M STILL HERE

Not made for me and dragged a bit towards the middle and end, but I found the characters likable and the premise was original. I find it hard to fully embrace a story that is about the ripple effects of important events rather than the events themselves.

EMILIA PEREZ

Soured on me with time. The BTS controversy didn’t influence me much. Instead, the surprises of the plot has worn off and I remember it as a musical where the songs were the lowlights, a middle that dragged, and an underwhelming ending.

THE BRUTALIST

I struggled to connect with much here. I didn’t get a great sense of who the main character is and what drives him. Absent of that, I didn’t get much out of the narrative which is a problem that gets compounded by a 3 hour run time.

NICKEL BOYS

Frustrating because I like to credit to films that take risks, but this risk backfired detrimentally. So much of the performances I would have liked to see, but couldn’t because of the decision to shoot POV. It distracted from the narrative rather than enhanced it.

MAGIC CANDIES

This was just so wholesome and fun. In times like this, I really appreciate anything like this that helps me see the beauty and joy in the everyday.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE CYPRESS

Simple, but effective style. I wasn’t really into it for much of the runtime, but the ending was impactful. I appreciated the metaphor it was conveying and a message like that being conveyed through animation with no dialogue all the way from Iran.

WANDER TO WONDER

Definitely the most creative. Just so dark and weird. In my head canon this is the final Toy Story film.

YUCK!

Art style just felt kind of basic. Story was cute. Just kind of solid but didn’t wow me in any way. Kaitlin thought it could be her favorite and it got a lot of laughs in the theater.

BEAUTIFUL MEN

I liked the style and premise and felt there were a couple of directions it could have gone, but instead it just kind of wasted that potential.
