I was there once as a teen, briefly.

I’d watched Oceans 11 probably ten to fifteen times and the disappointment I had at how awful actual Vegas was by comparison killed any desire to go back. It was
interesting, and I’m glad I can say I’ve seen it, but relative to its film portrayal, lacklustre.

A former US president once something about marks not being important because being a C student got him that far.

I keep seeing stuff about how the educational culture in the Netherlands works on learning just enough to get by and I wonder if the focus on high achieving is just detrimental.

Is not a bad time to point out that Australia just made it illegal to refuse remote work with out a legitimate reason. And a court has ruled that “face to face time is important to our office culture” is not legitimate. Nor is “productity is higher when everyone is on the office”.

There are lots of things that the bible sends mixed messages on - it's why theological debate exists.

But the one thing the christian bible is pretty consistent on is, "fuck them rich people."

This explains why the Americans only keep F35s at their balmy tropical bases such as (checks notes) Alaska.

When the Gripen first came up there was the issue of NATO interoperability as it was a plane drone outside the alliance. It’s weird that the fact that that’s changed isn’t discussed more.

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Annex businesses tell Ford to back off Bloor bike lanes
Stores in the Annex say the Bloor bike lanes have been a big boost to business. As Michelle Mackey reports, the neighborhood's BIA wants the province to back off its new bill that could see the lanes ...

Just call it a bunnyhug and let people be confused around you, fellow flatlander. If they didn’t want it to be called a bunnyhug they wouldn’t make them so soft and warm it’s like being hugged by a bunny.

I love this argument!

I had no idea any cities plowed sidewalks until I left Western Canada.

Having grown up similarly with a bunch of outside cats, I really enjoyed that you had to add that you grabbed “the nearest” one.

Smith gives Moe a lot of cover, but studying poli sci in Ontario I would say Sask is the fourth most talked about province here. That notwithstanding clause use draws a lot of visibility.

I only saw bits and pieces of The Odyssey as a kid and I think it was easily the most memorable show I remember from childhood. I never saw the whole thing and didn’t know if the story ever finished or not, it’s great to get the whole story! I didn’t even know it was a CBC show.
