no you're right! I think it IS approximately, now...per wiki, the pre-kg, OG measure was exactly 1L. Then they defined 1kg as 1dm3 of water, which IS the definition of 1L for volume, but TIL the exactness depends a bit on temp of the water) then 2019 they redefined it using universal constants...

reading this I went "wait, 1kg of water is ABOUT 1L?? I got taught that that's the literal definition of kg, no 'about' about it" -- then one wiki read later, turns out the kg got officially redefined in 2019!?! TIL...
