This hasn't been anything about the actual mechanical design approach of EOR, but a reminder to myself of what drives projects like these. And a reminder how important inspiration is for creating anything.

How sometimes even the smallest things are just enough to bring you back from feeling alone.

But at the risk of sounding corny, that's what I think FF14 has done a good job of doing -- bringing people together. And was one of the things that led me to making EOR.

The game saw a spike due to certain events, but people stayed due community that was hard to come by during their own isolation.

But I must admit that I did like what FIN did end up doing with Job Select, so that was used as a last minute addition to the set before we started actual play testing. Changed how it was applied, but generally happy with how all of this came together to tackle the MMORPG flavor of FFXIV.

But after drafting it a few times, I didn't want to just copy ZNR's structure to create support. I needed something special. So I ended up coming up with Discipline as a mechanic - using the exciting nature of modal creatures to help generate that support for Party.

And shoutout to AestMirra (they no longer seem to be active on social media), who gave permission for their wonderful landscapes to be used for the basic lands.

EOR was made as a love letter to FFXIV and its players. I'm not as skilled at drawing, nor making other content. But I am, however, an avid MTG player.

Over the next few weeks, I will be testing the set. During those days, I want to post them here and reflect on the lessons I learned making them.
