Bizarrely the American Churchill also got involved in politics, becoming a Representative for the State Legislature of New Hampshire and tried to become that state's governor.

In 1901 the British Churchill wrote his namesake congratulating him on his literary success and agreed to publish his own books in America under 'Winston Spencer Churchill'. Both men met for lunch one time and got on very well.
