Sadly, compass does have some good games (The Lamps are Going Out is one of my all time favorites), but they are in the “quantity not quality” mode of cranking stuff out.
If you want a good looking Compass game check this one: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/34...
1812!: War on the Great Lakes Frontier

The fact it’s also so simple rule wise is quite the achievement of game design! Insanely playable and a great canvas that gives space for all sorts of homebrew!

Then in follow up game this morning, started with a 5 run first inning with starting pitcher rolling an 8 on d100 + d4 for a RBI single!!! Won game 2 of series 8-0 with 16 hits! Fantastically simple baseball game!!!

Well hold off on the initiation ritual for the cult for a couple of games. Just keep in mind when you join the cult you get a cool hat! 😁 (forgot mine for the con…😢)

And you drop morale not just by units failing brake tests, but rallying to remove shaken/disrupted markers drains the track to represent officers losing control after repeated tries to keep the unit together

Instead of one of the scenarios that were only part of the battle I heard @drcrossbows.bsky.social in my head saying, it’s the full battle or nothing else, not this partial stuff! Lol

Yes. It is a bit unique. I’m super interested to see how Morale plays out. A blind Sword with TLNB style corps morale. If it hits zero bad things:

Yeah some can be hard to parse the strategy. When you play more. You’ll see most victory is controlling key areas. To get those areas you need to concentrate force before opponent can. Reading terrain for how fast to move, and give you combat advantage is usually the key.

It will be on my list. I have that and CC:E and friend has CC:P and neither of us have played and we are taking week off for BGF and having some pre-con Combat Commander to warm up!

I have the last week of April slated to play like 2 days of combat commander FINALLY. A system I’ve needed to try for a long while

I hope you have cleared a few closets in your house for about 5 Kallax worth of modules!

Yes. I had similar thoughts. Perhaps it’s a second edition (or third I guess) of By Iron and Blood? Hermann has a similar fascination for late 19th century as I do.
