The girl sitting in the driver’s seat looked just a little bit different 10 years ago. That’s when a West Metro crew first met her - on the day she was born. Tessa Maurer was in a hurry- arriving at home less than 15 minutes after her mom felt the first contractions. 1/2

In Colorado, we know that there is no real "season" for wildfire- it can happen at any time. Case in point- this week- when we had 3 days of Red Flag Warnings. Here's a quick look at what our crews are brushing up on this month- building fire line, progressive hose lay, and fire shelter deployment.

March is usually the snowiest month of the year in Colorado, but not this year (so far). Lack of moisture means the vegetation (fuel) is dry and ready to burn. So, another day of VERY HIGH fire danger in West Metro's district, along with a RED FLAG WARNING.

Our investigator has determined that the fire started on the second-floor balcony of one unit, then moved to the third floor and into the attic. 1/2

WMFR assisting Denver Fire on a structure fire on Wednesday near Mississippi Ave & Winona Ct. In the video, you can see the crew with our Engine 8 on the hose line, just after arrival on scene. Engine 8 saw the smoke plume while they were close by on another call, and went to investigate. 1/2
