The entrance to a listening gallery in a tunnel system. For scale, a grown man can crawl along the gallery that ran for about 20m before opening out into a small chamber where the occupant would sit and wait, listening... Originally the whole tunnel system was excavated at roughly the same height.

WW1 tunneller's humour - this 'duck' was drawn at a point where the tunnel height dropped from standing to a crouch.

Canadian tunnellers - left their mark underground in carvings and chinagraph pencil. This tunnel eventually led forward to Vimy Ridge.
