I miss typing stuff like this into an inflation calc and get an interesting & informative answer. But since the past 5 years of inflation have been a complete lie, it’s just depressing now. I got $3550 for this, but the fact is quality stuff has approx doubled in price in the past 3 years alone.

Unfortunately Canada will never again be the partner it was after this. This will in the long term cost the US hundreds of billions if not Trillions even after the tariffs are rescinded. (Which on their own will cost the US trillions)

And while the US has oil, it costs more, they may or may not be able to eventually supply the metals but that’ll take a long time, and they simply Don’t have the lumber supplies Canada does and never will. (Think housing).

An enormous amount of American manufacturing relies heavily on Canada. From cheap metals, to cheap wood, to cheap oil. It’s all a huge net gain to the US, which Trump has wildly reframed as a loss. They simply can’t spool up their “made in America” plans if they cut off Canada.
