I think the potential problems aren't anything to do with who'll buy it, but rather the same issues as the Deck:
Anti-cheat compatibility, and Windows-only games.
People may be willing to ditch their box, but not fully if the new box can't run Fortnite or streaming apps, etc.

Given how *cheap* the Steam Deck is, Valve is in a position to do something mega with the big black box.
The goal has always been to get more people buying on Steam, and I think this could be seen as a kind of second phase of that plan.
I'm assuming the Steam Deck was a success then, right?
