Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, 6 Feb 2026. Probably the best Bad Seeds gig I've been to! The band was on fire, the vibes were immaculate, and all the songs sounded great, both the old and new. Plus I never thought I'd get to hear the Bad Seeds doing Shivers, so that's a new life highlight.

What the fuck kind of email is this? "We, the job hosting platform, think it is unlikely you'll hear back" cool I don't care what you think, Seek Dot Co Dot NZ. What is the point of this? It's not a definite rejection, and it's not from the actual employer, it's just a waste of everyone's time.

Doing session zero for my Ars Magica campaign. My hard copy of the rules hasn't arrived yet, so I brought some inspirational material for my players instead.
A stack of books — The Great Charter, Occult Britain, Folklore Myths and Legends of Britain, The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, the Atlas of Medieval Man — a copy of Hello Wizard I Have A Problem, and a printed copy of the section of the Ars Magica core rules about the Hermetic Houses.

The media that I'm finding it easiest to engage with at the moment is anime (~23 minute episodes, ~13 episode seasons suits my brain nicely right now), but what I wasn't expecting was to get so immediately hooked on these two (related) shows about teenage bands and their dramas.

If a member's bill has broad cross-party support, it can skip the Biscuit Tin and get straight onto the Order Paper. This bill... does not have that. When they get another 58 non-Ministers to support it (which would be the first time since the bypass mechanism was put in place), it'll be current.

Proposed member's bill. Proposed. Calling it "current" buys into the framing that just because it's in the Biscuit Tin, a bill is relevant and important and Shows A Party Is Taking A Stand (a framing which NZ First *loves*). Until it's on the Order Paper, it's functionally irrelevant.
