The cotton HRMS suggests growers apply at least 6 different weed control tactics to target grass and broadleaf weeds spanning a 2-yr period. Use more tactics if the program incl. selective herbicides. Include herbicide + non-herbicide tactics.

Pre-em herbicides contribute to achieving high-level weed control (97%). Growers are investing heavily in early-season weed control, backed up with strong crop competition and effective control of survivors at harvest. WeedSmart Big 6 in action. buff.ly/GGjbiWr

Three high-priority MRL risks to manage: 1. Haloxyfop in canola, 2. Paraquat in lupins and 3. Glyphosate in canola. In addition to the Directions for Use tables, labels now have very specific Residue Management Restraints that must be followed. buff.ly/C1QWVaS

In-season herbicides accounts for 55% of the total weed control spend for grain production, or $97/ha. Another $51/ha in other in-crop weed management practices and $29/ha to control weeds on fallow fields. buff.ly/QZU3Tvs

How much wheat yield does ryegrass steal? As a rule of thumb – 0.45 t/ha wheat grain yield is lost for every 235 ryegrass spikes/m2. Check out our scientific summary and read CSIRO’s research paper. 🧐 buff.ly/sMzaYkh

Need to break an annual ryegrass stranglehold??
Try 3 years of over 95% weed seed control followed by high-level control in subsequent years. Think consecutive broadleaf crops (e.g. legume plus canola) or a broadleaf crop followed by cereal hay.
