hans holbein the younger’s “The Body of the Dead Christ in the Tomb” c 1520-22. it is a painting whose dimensions are that of a lengthwise cross section of a casket. the frame containing it is also casket-like, the top face extending slightly over the sides like a lid. the subject matter: a dead man, whose body just fits within the borders of the canvas, lying flat on a table that is covered in a shroud. his condition is gruesome.

grandpa gets cold really easily and our landlord is stingy with the radiators so I’ve developed a new strategy to keep her warm with extremely positive results
