In UK hysteroscopy is routinely carried out without anaesthetic. Research shows 1 in 3 experience severe pain and it often has to be stopped and moved to general anaesthetic. Can you insist on anaesthetic or sedation with analgesia? Or tell them they stop as soon as you say!

I was thinking about
"fascinating a woman". Currently there are pictures on the ceiling, music and VR used to distract women in outpatient gynaecology clinics.

Sorry to hear what happened to you. Would never happen to men! It's the only endoscopy where #anaesthetic/ #sedation+analgesia isn't offered automatically and of course, the only one that men don't have!

It was barbaric, the irony in the Dr telling me ‘We are not Barbarians’ when I was in tears and barely able to speak or walk afterwards… yes, you don’t routinely give women analgesia for this, you ARE barbarians.

Here is my poem ‘What Doctors Said To Me’. Written after a failed Hysteroscopy without analgesia as the NHS saves money by not giving it to women. I wrote this whilst in severe pain & bleeding heavily a week later. #MedicalMisogyny
