Maybe 100,000s are starving in Palestine, and it's not enough, but didn't feel right to do nothing (and yes hostages must be freed).
Had a go at 5 things we can maybe do to take action for #palestine and #gaza
Do what we can. Save lives.

Raise capital gains rates (carve out primary residence, probs) and eliminate tax benefits for landlords, and you've already fixed half the problem.

There are plenty of houses. We need to stop letting corporations buy up massive amounts of residential space to turn into tourist houses and short term rentals. We need more actual people, individuals, buying and selling. 50 year mortgages ain't it, but neither is building more.

This right here. Do we need more houses when millions are empty and millions more are short term rentals?

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

There I was trying to be so healthy drinking a tea of fresh nettle leaves foraged and matcha powder team and now I just feel super nauseaous.

Which I now discover can happen.

Oops.
Damn.

Annoying as much work to be done.

Sigh.

India has now electrified almost 100% of their tracks, a poorer country with vastly more track. Over half of that has happened in just the last decade. The UK's poverty of ambition by comparison is truly staggering (and sad...) earthbound.report/2025/02/03/i...

The Washington Post’s new editorial stance: trillion dollar executive compensation packages while tripling the price of tens of millions of Americans’ health insurance premiums is A-Ok, but proposing free childcare and public transit is class warfare.

Dropping the mask, indeed.
This is references “class warfare” and “Generalissimo Zohran Mamdani” and only gets more bananas from there. The new editorial page is… really something. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Obviously it's never an unpopular move to take money away from lawyers. I get that. But if you make it uneconomical to work as a solicitor or barrister suing the Government, then that same Government can essentially do whatever it wants without fear of being stopped in the courts.

This has brought back my faith in humanity.
Lots of people saying they’d rather sell clothing on Vinted for only £1 then see it go to waste when charity shops can’t sell or take them.
We might solve the #fashion waste crisis after all.
