How hard do you think mass collaboration really is? Without gatekeeping and sabotage probably not hard at all.
AI Petition draft.

Purely on weighing the dangers vs the benefits alone. From looking at the technologies they are heavily limited by their training data. If realistic pictures, video, & audio of humans are removed from inputs & training data, then the outputs will at best look like oil paintings.

With AI, we're at the stage where public citizen describes its use for CSAM, impersonating officials, swaying voters, defrauding consumers by mimicking people or institutions & exploiting creators. Where they warn about AI's potential for inciting violence in ways which are difficult to stop.

Then, "in 1948 the links between smoking & lung cancer were becoming apparent. Cigarette manufacturers disputed this evidence, as part of an orchestrated conspiracy to salvage cigarette sales."

Even for CSAM & NCII, "some survivors have found that the fastest way to get content removed is by filing copyright claims, a tactic those working in the online safety industry say is inadequate."

On the subject of copyright from author Heather Marsh, "Copyright and patent laws which are structured to ensure fame & profit for those that can afford the fees & are quickest to file forms have created a society & a history filled with people celebrated for creations they did not originate

Some of the most well received petitions on AI exploitation offer impressive responses to existing deepfakes & non-consensual media. Yet, they are too vague to properly address this specific AI exploitation at the root of the problem. Most prominent legal challenges to AI rely on copyright.

SAG-AFTRA union has one of the best reputations in being creator focused, but there's well publicized loopholes & grossly ineffective protections for AI exploitation in their current contracts.

Vague language seems to leave room for frivolous takedown requests of legal content. One promising tool to aid victims looking into takedown requests is victim led Alecto AI founded by revenge porn survivor, Breeze Liu. Although, in downloading their app, the functionality currently seems modest.

Current efforts in combatting AI exploitation are well known to be largely ineffective, but I find this motivating. "The Take it Down Act" in the U.S. is thought to be somewhat positive for taking down non-consensual content, but Public Citizen states it leaves, "enforcement to the FTC."

There's a well-documented trend of political bot accounts targeting demographics during elections & often calling for people to avoid the polls. I've already seen multiple leftist influencers suggesting they wouldn't vote if the ballot is Newsom v. Trump even after extreme fascism from Trump.

With Ukraine, the well-documented reality is Russia is the aggressor & the one committing heinous war crimes. Ukraine has said AI drones are a vital resource protecting their population. I'm all for outlawing AI drones, but if Russia uses them unchecked, then why would I be against defensive use?

Although, a pair of investors, "burst into laughter at the idea of building a business around the use of AI to detect online image abuse." So people people burst into laughter about by far one of the most practical efforts to reduce non-consensual deepfakes & existing child pornography online.

She started a victim led application to help victims find existing CSAM & NCII of themselves online, & said investor support has been lackluster. Looking at the Take it Down act, & how this allows for authorized people to aid victims in taking down non-consensual media, her app idea is invaluable.

CSAM & NCII disproportionately affect women, & 1 woman affected by non-consensual CSAM & deepfakes of media from when she was 17 had a heavily publicized struggle to take down the abuse media. Logistically, tracking down all of the existing non-consensual media of herself was impossible on her own.
February 8, 2026 at 7:46 PM
As I've researched the history of CSAM & NCII, I've found numerous articles mentioning global failures of takedown efforts even before AI exponentially increased the spread. Using machine learning or AI, to flag CSAM & NCII is inherently the only way to track the abuse media as fast as it's spread.

The rise of synthetic online accounts capable of posing as real people & the sheer amount of resources people can use to manipulate discourse inevitably creates situations where people who care too much about matching the "popular stance," find themselves echoing artificially driven propaganda.

12 days later, 2 U.S. national security officials told a journalist, "There are more than a dozen secret and obscure watchlists that homeland security & the FBI are using to track protesters (both anti-ICE & pro-palestinian), "antifa," & others who are promiscuously labeled "domestic terrorists."

One example is how less than 60,000 humans have three times more resources than 3.5 billion others. This is not realistic from a species. The wealth hoarders benefit from lack of unity, extreme apathy, & defeatism from the masses to accumulate & hold their obscene wealth.

When I had a boss who repeatedly pressured me, I initiated interactions where I convinced customers to sign up for programs at a much higher rate than my peers. With activism, I think collaboration is similarly more likely the more you reach out & the more confident you are when you do.

As fascism & surveillance continue to grow hand in hand, we benefit from rethinking how we protest. 1) From 2012, popular protest resource witness brought up the advances in nefarious surveillance. They mentioned how blurring technologies & changes in photojournalism would possibly save lives.
