Yeah, part modeling, part world building, but I’ve got a freelanced passenger train for my railroad I’ve been meaning to flesh out and build

Half Walthers, half Branchline Trains kits, and a brass steamer to boot, it’s gonna be, uh, quite a project.

Also, a Bachmann combine car that will be the basis of a kitbash, and also also, a brass 4-8-4 that will need to be painted and detailed to pull the train- in addition to having DCC and sound installed. Not pictured: the 10 or so more Walthers cars I have gotten since that will also need to be painted or decaled or renumbered. Oh and they all need lighting kits too, of course.

Back in the day, politicians would take to the rails to campaign, doing literal whistle stop tours.

So in light of events this evening, have a Campaign Victory Special from, appropriately, a model railroad club in Northern VA
Coal River Valley 4-8-2 mountain number 702 in Washington yard on the Northern Virginia Model Railroad Club. She is a modified Bachmann Heavy Mountain, with a Vanderbilt tender, pilot mounted air pumps, Mars light, and flying number boards. She is at the head of a four car heavyweight passenger consist of a coach, a diner, a Pullman sleeper, and a Pullman observation car- an Election Special. (Alas, the marker lights I installed burnt out, as she should be displaying white Extra lamps) The rear of 708’s Election Special passenger train, a heavyweight Pullman observation with an open observation deck. Alas I do not have an HO scale Abigail Spanberger to put on the observation platform.

The battleship USS TENNESSEE underway sometime after her repair and refit after being sunk at Pearl Harbor. She’s “had some work done” and now more closely resembles a modern US fast battleship than the Standard dreadnought battleship she was built as.

So I marched in the Annapolis Pride parade with my church today, and lo and behold there was a sun dog during the parade- everyone kept going “there’s a rainbow around the sun!”

Gonna take that as a positive sign from on high

Cindy and I went apple picking today! We weren’t sure we were going to get to this fall because Reasons, but we did!

And got lots of farm fresh veggies to boot!
My kitchen counter overflowing with fresh picked apples, along with several varieties of squash, broccoli, tomatoes, fresh local honey, barley soup mix, and apple cider. Not pictured are the farm fresh sausage links and steak we put in the freezer

Photo of the building blocks of an HO scale freelanced passenger train spread out on my desk: an unpainted brass 4-8-4 steam locomotive, that needs to be painted and have DCC and sound installed, five Branchline Trains heavyweight passenger car kits, which have ALL THE ITTY BITTY FIDLY BIT PIECES which need to be assembled, painted, and decaled, and five Walthers heavyweight passenger cars, three of which are unpainted and would need to be disassembled and painted, and all of which need grab irons and decals installed. And one Bachmann combine car, to be used as a starting point for a kitbashed head end combine-lounge car, since those are only available in brass, are hard to find, and cost more than the locomotive did.

Hey model railroad friends, here’s a fun fantasy scheme from a fellow club member
