#OTD in Weather History, 48 years ago, on November 10, 1975, the ore freighter SS EDMUND FITZGERALD was lost with all hands in a severe storm on Lake Superior.

She is perhaps the best known shipwreck on the Great Lakes, and today we remember her loss. 1/

Discworld QOTD, from The Color of Magic

"'We know all about you, Rincewind the magician. You are a man of great cunning and artifice. You laugh in the face of Death. Your affected air of craven cowardice does not fool me.'

It fooled Rincewind."
Discworld QOTD, from Equal Rites

“Zoon tribes are very proud of their Liars.

Other races get very annoyed about all this. They feel that the Zoon ought to have adopted more suitable titles, like ‘diplomat’ or ‘public relations officer’. They feel they are poking fun at the whole thing.”
Discworld QOTD, from Snuff

"But what should we do when the highborn and wealthy take to crime? Indeed, if a poor man will spend a year in prison for stealing out of hunger, how high would the gallows need to be to hang the rich man who breaks the law out of greed?"

On Friday and Saturday, highs could reach 60 to 70 degrees in the DC area... the higher end of the range is possible if there is more sun and fewer clouds/showers. The lower end is more likely if we're more socked in.

Either way, a legit January thaw.

Bumping up on my lunch to say that at $1,710, this Shakespeare production is just a HAIR under 1/3 funded in less than 24 hours.
At $1,500, or 25% of the way to funding this production of Shakespeare’s King John put on by queer, disabled, BIPOC, and other folks traditionally underrepresented in this form of theater.

Also, there is a big bellied wolf sheriff now harassing you.

I used to be a voracious reader when I was little, but alas, I fell off.

I have now finished three Discworld books since New Years Eve, and am halfway through a fourth.
