Googled and it was, in fact, EXACTLY what I was hoping it would be. I (also @pyreflies.bsky.social) was in a two season Interstitial AP where I played a mashup of Alpha from FFXIV and the titular character from FF Chocobo Tales / Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon and it was an absolute riot.

..............that is an incredible series of words you've put together right there. I'll bookmark this for later.

I'm also a big fan of Vintage Office Noise (dot matrix printers, distant dialup noises, and office chatter) and Number Stations, which is exactly what it sounds like

Hands of Time *may* have just edged out Twin Black Lodges (mynoise.net/NoiseMachine...) — which is based on the music of Twin Peaks— as my favorite on the site, though that may just be recency bias talking.

I don’t think all art is subjective because art belongs to a lineage. All art is a conversation and what people often think of as subjectivity is actually picking what side of that conversation you are on.

art is like philosophy in the sense that it's an ongoing conversation with ideas that build from its predecessors. "art is subjective" is as dismissive as it is ignorant

.........all that to say, it's a combination of math and ~vibes~ for me. 😅 Sorry for the wall of text.

-as well as the player who makes a reasonable and balanced build with a few points in everything, to feel like they're on equal footing. Antagonists (as opposed to standard "mobs") are built on the same system as characters, so I never want anyone getting one-shot. That's neither fair nor fun.

extraordinary amount of math, the 3d6 curve is pretty elegant and really easy to balance. This is the one I'm most concerned with the player balance issue, because it's VERY flexible in how you can build your character. I want the player who puts every stat point they ever get into just three stats-

- but d% opens up channels of much deeper complexity, if and where I want to delve into it.

Then on another game, I'm using 3d6— My first exposure to it was playing Champions (ridiculously crunchy but VERY fun) and I really enjoyed how it's implemented there. If you strip away the Hero system's-

A hard sci-fi game I'm working on runs on d10/d%, because I want it to *feel* crunchy and granular, without actually requiring the kind of math that crunchy, granular games usually have. d10 has a nice middle of the road complexity curve imo, and is used for most combat stuff-
