One of my favorite pages I’ve penciled in a good while. Doing a lot of weird convention-breaking stuff this issue with the art that I can’t wait to show y’all! Hoping to still have it out this year, health allowing—been a rough go for a long stretch, but the work persists (albeit slowly).

Punching fascists is always correct

As I sit here on stolen land, in a place founded on and built from the cruelty of a people citing a “manifest destiny” as their “god-given right” to wrest a lush countryside teeming with life and vitality from the peoples who tended and nurtured it; and, through murder and slavery and exploitation, turn it eventually into parking lots and billboards and Applebees, I wonder if the lust for conquest of colonizers the world over will ever be sated. The descendants of some of those colonizers still hold the reins of this land, admitting or ejecting people at will who have as much right to be here as any other—using their militarized violence workers in the streets to quash any protest of their aims, as they pass legislation and judgements that further dehumanize and endanger all people, and funnel our meager earnings to the richest among us at home and to genociders overseas.

I hate the boring dystopia we live in. For so many, many other reasons, more important than this, but for this one specifically at 11:25 PM last night. This is why the overwhelming majority of my tech is still analog, when possible.

I’m watching it on my OWN PERSONAL DVDs. A banner appeared at the bottom (of the screen) telling me I can “watch this episode from other providers” if I click the asterisk button. I am so fucking mad. My own fucking TV is advertising bullshit to me while I watch MY OWN DVDs specifically so I am not advertised to.

I’ve had some brush to burn piled up in our fire pit for a couple months, and it looked a while back like a bunny had dug a hole into the side to make a nest, so I’ve held off lighting it. Finally saw today while mowing around it that I was right! Glad I trusted my instincts.

I guess Bluesky is where I make my stand. I won’t rejoin TikTok if the rumors are true and it resurrects as another head of the Meta hydra. Stopped using Insta and FB, abandoned twitter after Musk took over…really tired of the oligarchs making digital refugees of creators on the once-free web.

Pencils for a page of The Atonement Bell. The three teenage characters move through the lavish architecture of the St. Louis Public Library before settling in front of a computer to research the occult. A cover for the Act One TPB of The Unforgiven, depicting the rebels lined up with swords, bows, and determination. The Unforgiven comic page: Serena, as a child, draws the flame emblem for the rebels as the rebel leader talks with her about it in an old abandoned classroom.
