We are magpies
@we-are-magpies.bsky.social
If you believe that freedom and justice for all means ALL of us, you're a magpie, too. Magpies will pluck at the tail feathers of eagles to defend their nests. And sometimes just to remind the eagle that the sky is ours, too. Join the mischief.
Yes. Usually, the "goodbye" is an unhinged attempt at sarcasm followed by deranged laughter. I take it to mean, "Thanks for not being a douche. I love you. Please bring food." Evidence suggests 95% interpretative accuracy.

Maybe not from truly devoted MAGHATS, but the casual base is expressing regret far more than the online comments would have you believe. Been hearing direct accounts about in-person exchanges (from Vets no less) feeling regret and betrayal. I have 0% sympathy, tho. They wanted this for us, not them

They're all, "Cry more!" until it hurts them, then it's, "We should come together because this affects all of us." [Farmers & teachers who were proud to vote MAGA in interviews]

Their only objection is that they're being lumped in with all the brown and queer people they were trying to erase.

Suggestion: Magpies as the unifying symbol of grassroots protest because:
1. Loud AF
2. Clever
3. Persistent
4. Terrifyingly effective offense/defense in small groups
5. A group of magpies is called a mischief.

Let's make mischief against MAGA n'EM.

Knowing our rights doesn't help if they're just going to violate them with impunity. We have to actively obstruct this madness. Together.

Same, magpie. Same.

It seems like that's their plan for many of our communities whether or not we protest.

Language matters. Debt slavery. They view those in debt as slaves, which is what they wish to "free" America from but... most Americans have insurmountable credit card and student loan debt and DOGE has compromised all protective agencies. I see debtors prisons serving big tech in America's future.

"Let he who calls for civil war be the first to catch a bullet," or whatever Jesus said. Maybe it was something about swords...

Next punitive actions against debtors, especially those with students loans, so that people are forced to into working these more and more dangerous, exploitative jobs for less pay regardless of their education, and a resurgence of "company town" systems that absorb all but the wealthiest Americans.

DOGE is clearly paving the way for Musk to create optimal conditions for his interests and nothing else. Every action seems to be paving the path toward complete deregulation of all public protections, smothering wages and quality of life for the middle/lower classes. [1/2]

We humbly suggest the magpie as the symbol of the resistance. Relentless. Clever. Loud AF. And they never forget the faces of those who harm them.
