We are magpies
@we-are-magpies.bsky.social
If you believe that freedom and justice for all means ALL of us, you're a magpie, too. Magpies will pluck at the tail feathers of eagles to defend their nests. And sometimes just to remind the eagle that the sky is ours, too. Join the mischief.
This all feels very "the last 20 minutes of a 5-hour Monoply game."

Are we ready to throw the whole government away and free Palestine yet? Or are we waiting for the horrors of modern, tech-driven, genocide to be livestreamed from our own phones first?

Aren't you tired of our government running like a shitty reality TV show?

Even the "Alaska Bush People" were more believable than the idea that Krasnov the Orange and the overgrown kid from the Omen are doing anything good for America.

To our kids: Outlive these slimy Mother 🦆ers. The future is YOURS. The best revenge against this dying gasp of colonial bigotry is to survive. Let their last vision be of you, still here and thriving, in the world they tried their damnedest to deny you.

Personal highlights from today's protest: Literally hundreds of positve responses from drivers. The one guy who excitedly waved a Luigi plushie as he drove by. Blowing kisses to every angry MAGA flipping us off.

I really hope all 6 of them saw. Here's an extra, just in case they missed it 😘

Suggestion: Magpies as the unifying symbol of protest because:
1. Loud AF
2. Clever
3. Persistent
4. Terrifyingly effective offense/defense in small groups
5. A group of magpies is called a mischief.

Let's make mischief against MAGA n'EM.

Every act violence against marginalized people abroad and in the U.S. that we have tolerated for the sake of comfort has perfected the oppressive techniques that are now turned back on the "average" American. Look to Palestine & Congo & Sudan to see what lies ahead. To save them is to save ourselves

Good people outnumber the fascists. They think they have us divided between all our different issues, but individual struggles for freedom add up to our collective rights. Be a magpie. Defend your part of the forest and we'll defend ours. Together, we can drive the predators out.

The U.S. empire has been in decline for decades. The current administration has only cut the parachute lines for all but themselves. Who we, as a society, choose to protect and what we build anew after the fall is what will define our country in the future.

America is all circus, no bread.
February 11, 2025 at 12:28 AM
The past few years of rapid decline in America should have taught us that tolerating violations of the human rights and dignity of others undermines freedom and human rights everywhere — including our own. We are all connected. No one is expendable.

The intention of our page is to create an umbrella symbol (magpies!) for all the movements who are actively against the MAGA n'EM rot.

No hate, unless you're a bigot, billionaire, supremacist, or sympathizer. In which case, you can 🦆right off to the hell you're so desperate to create on Earth.

Magpies are also loud AF. Keep making noise for your causes. They wanna flood the field and overwhelm our senses? We outnumber them. Let them drown in their own mess.
February 5, 2025 at 9:02 AM
Think beyond reaction to the crisis. What is the future we actively push toward?
February 5, 2025 at 5:44 AM
We've chosen magpies as the symbol of our resistance because they're scrappy, clever, and have been known to befriend kind people and put predators in their place.

A group of magpies is called a mischief.
