2017's Polygondwanaland ambitiously sought to outdo the entire discography amid production alongside four other albums, and succeeded. Clean, proggy, and composed with deep polyrhythms, it is also notable for its copyright-free release that led to the Official Bootlegger program.

With a title too long for Bluesky, 2023's Petrodragonic Apocalypse... is then the logical conclusion of King Gizzard doing metal. It is a technical and dense tribute to progressive speed metal showcasing some of the band's best ever musicianship.

But what if they made metal? 2019's Infest the Rats' Nest is the logical result of King Gizzard's heavier tendencies. Part tribute to thrash and AC/DC, this release also expands the Gizzverse with an intense narrative of Earth escape away from climate catastrophe.

The original no-concept leftovers album is 2013's Oddments. Featuring some unused material even from before the formation of the band, the album contains examples of some paths never taken as well as hints of what was to come - all washed over with a lo-fi haze.

Perhaps their most unique record, 2017's Murder Of The Universe is like Nonagon Infinity turned up to 11. It is a dark, noisy, shameless dive into the Gizzverse. With forms of Heavy-Psych and Metal, extensive spoken narration is used in conjunction with vocals to spin an epic tale in three acts.

‘Nonagon Infinity opens the door’, this self-mythologising nod to Huxley’s Doors of Perception drops you straight into a new frontier of Heavy-Psych. In some ways the sequel to IIYMF, 2016's Nonagon Infinity was the next big breakthrough and utilises an infinitely looping composition.

2022's Omnium Gatherum fuses the last of the lockdown isolation songs with their first sessions all back together playing in the same room. It has an eclectic mix of songs that blur the lines between some of their quietest, loudest, oldest and freshest styles. The current jam band era begins here.

The classic first album suggestion is 2014's I'm In Your Mind Fuzz. With Krautrock inspiration, this is the band's first big evolution in songwriting and production quality. Moving confidently between driving and relaxed psych sounds, their first opus also lays the lore foundation for the gizzverse.
