You also have to pray that the machine survives shipping. I once purchased a used but nice stereo system on eBay, but the seller didn't pack it properly and it got smashed up to bits. 😢 Thankfully the seller refunded me after I sent the photos.

I don't remember if I asked before, but is your PC a self-built system, or a pre-built from a company like Dell, iBuyPower, etc?

Unfortunately, my old iPhone SE really doesn't do justice with night photos, but I'll try. I am about to upgrade to a newer flagship phone. Hoping it has a good night shot feature. (the model I'm considering is a Google Pixel because of cost and the fact I'm transitioning out of the Mac ecosystem)

So cute! 😊

When I last posted about a week ago, I did get some fewer interactions that I'm used to. Sometimes my posts reach more of my followers, while other times, crickets. If I like or comment on too many things at once, my account may get restricted for "suspicious activity".

My own past issues with Linux were mostly having hardware that just didn't work right (such as my previous Wacom Cintiq 22HD), or I got carried away installing stuff outside a distro's preferred software repositories. I doubt I'll learn to compile stuff, but I do know some terminal commands.

The 2014 iMac I put Xubuntu on was a bit of a consolation purchase. I bought a refurbished MacBook from an online reseller, and one of the keyboard keys stopped working. Seller honored the warranty, and I got credit. I used the credit for said iMac. 😁

And indeed, my current Linux setup even works somewhat with my iPhone! No AirDrop or mirroring, but I can still easily transfer my photos off it with just a USB cable.

I used Linux on and off during the 2000s and 2010s, and it's great to see it evolve into an ecosystem that can be both user friendly (Ubuntu, etc), and for the advanced user (Arch, Gentoo, etc). It's going to take a while to learn Krita or GIMP, but I am ready to take the challenge!

I'll still keep my 2020 iMac around for art creation, but I'll daily drive Xubuntu Linux everywhere else, on a 2014 iMac and a cheap Lenovo laptop. More info is in the ALT text below, but so far, it's been quite an interesting, and refreshing experience. Linux isn't for everyone though. 2/end

Kind of fell off the art train again, but still have several ideas to help pick back up again soon. Also decided to begin transitioning towards a Linux-based computer future as I'm becoming increasingly disillusioned with Apple and other BigTech in these trying times. 1/2

Any reason as to why the new owner is kicking you out? It really sounds like the new landlord is a heartless ghoul. 😢

You nailed the 90s vibe well! 😊 The background makes me think of those paper cups that had similar neon colored lines, and were everywhere in the 90s.

I used to love Halloween as a kid, complete with dressing up and going out for candy. But these days, it's hard for me to get into the spirit.

That is the downside of social media. There will always be people who won't like what you post, either if it's genuine criticism or just flat out trolling. As much as it can hurt, the only thing we can do is to ignore/block. We already have good friends who love our art and that should be our focus.

Another one bites the dust, so they say. 😢 If you are wanting to learn something new, may I suggest ArtRage Vitae, a rather nice digital painting tool that I use for my own art. It's raster only though, so for vector drawing, you may want to look at Inkscape.

Would you have any idea where this wonderful Pepsi cup may have originated from? I purchased mine from a thrift store many years ago, and I love the design. I'm curious if it was offered as a promotion, was a restaurant cup, etc. I tagged ConsumerTC but didn't get an answer. bsky.app/profile/wb89...
@consumertc.bsky.social I was wondering if you could help with something. I have this lovely Wintery themed Pepsi glass from the 90s. I found it at a thrift shop over a decade ago, and the artwork still holds up great. Would you know where this particular glass may have come from, like a promotion?
