My legacy as a descendant of the Taíno and African peoples who withstood Cristoforo Colombo and his ilk
This is the story of one holiday of many that keeps the room’s colonial mythology alive. In telling it, I hope to help reconstruct the room in truth, so that its warmth no longer depends on exclusion.

I've said it before and will say it again... if you have to check the results of AI because of its ability to lie then there is no point in ever using AI because you can't trust it.

And yet, companies have invested all that cash so have to push that fucking shit on everyone and every fucking app.

Zohran Mamdani’s plan to tax the rich is a 2% tax on income over $1 million.

If you make $1.1 million, you’d pay an extra $2,000.

Watching working class conservatives and politicians completely meltdown about this is wild.

New in Perspectives: A New Kind of Corner Store

Public grocery stores are gaining ground in U.S. cities. Is it time for Canadian cities to do the same?

@vassb.bsky.social asks: if we can run public water and transit, why not food?

A grocery model that puts affordability and access ahead of margins could nourish something we’re starved for: a little more stability, and a little more imagination.

I'm old enough to remember occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, a never ending war of terror that killed over 4 million people.

And using same rhetoric we hear now- manufacturing consent through racist demonization. And blatant lies.

People's liberation never comes through imperialist terror, ever.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to my Victoria book launch—especially to @waydecompton.bsky.social for the excellent reading and interview. It was both a celebration of Soundin’ Canaan (@wlupress.bsky.social) and an opportunity to hear poetry and be in community.
