Splice getting integrated directly into Ableton only confirms my deep belief in mic'ing up physical drums and making all of my own samples

It’s a computational notebook, where all cells are running all the time. Fascinatingly, the UI is the code, adorned with small widgets. I think legibility could be improved for other users, but this points to possibilities in other domains.

Loving many things about songwriting in #Ableton. But good gosh, it's bad on CPU efficiency. Spending a lot of time digging into BIOS/power/driver/cpu-scheduling tweaks to improve things.

You can avoid paying Sonarworks to calibrate your headphones by using free impulse responses loaded into a convolution reverb (included with most DAWs).

This Github library contains IR measurements in wav files for many headphones:

Often finding myself jumping over to #Sunvox to get the sounds I want. A quirky little free tracker with some legitimately gorgeous built-in synths/drums/pads/effects. #musicproduction

Moving from #Logic to #AbletonLive, not because I don't like Logic, but to get a little break from the Apple obsolescence churn (as a treat).

I know I'll get used to it, but I'm currently deep in the "absolutely none of this works the way I think it should intuitively" stage of learning a new DAW.

Return tracks in #Ableton are a bit strange compared to other DAWs. Unless you mess with the pre/post fader switches on master, which is often undesirable, you almost always have to boost the gain going into your bus effects, or else the levels are just way too low, even with the send cranked.
