Learned the hard way today that 1Password CLI seemingly requires a server request to succeed in order to access stored secrets (that should already be cached). Don't rely on it to sign things locally, etc.

New from me: Last week I noticed a feature on TikTok that used AI to scan videos and identify products. It turns out the feature is being applied even to videos from Gaza. In one, a mother cries out for her family. TikTok tagged dresses, head coverings, and handbags.

Your inner perfectionist is why that 3-week project is now at month 3. Ship the embarrassingly simple version. Get real feedback. Iterate. Every day your code isn't in users' hands is a day you're not learning if you're building the right thing.

✨ It's new samwho visual essay o'clock! ✨

Reservoir sampling is one of my favourite algorithms. It allows you to sample from a set without knowing the size of that set.

I try to assume no prior knowledge, and use no scary math notation. Just beautiful visuals.

Let me know what you think! ❤️

God damn this whole thread is so frustrating.

Anti-growth, pro-spider, this should be a shoe in to get overturned and yet it's impossible by statute.
I’m tired of hearing about bats. Do you want to hear a story about jumping spiders and the town that disappeared?

I think I might be breaking this story – do come be the first to read it.

The year is 2035. I meet President AOC in the Oval Office. "You've done well," she says. "By telling men to dress gay, you've lowered the population rate by 90%, thereby reducing carbon emissions." She slides me a manilla envelope. I can now afford a home in a walkable neighborhood
