The #H5N1 #birdflu virus from a severe case in Louisiana shows it was developing mutations that could help it attach to cells in human respiratory tracts, including a mutation seen in a recent severe case in British Columbia, Canada, the #CDC reported today. www.statnews.com/2024/12/26/c...
CDC says H5N1 bird flu sample shows mutations that may help the virus bind to cells in the upper airways of people
The CDC said Thursday that the mutations, detected in a sample taken from a Louisiana patient, may help bind the virus to the upper airways in people.

In case you were wondering ...

There is nothing --zero-- in the Paris Agreement that defines how "1.5°C" is determined.

Not 20 years. Not 30 years. Not trendline. Not models.

NOTHING!

The CDC has released an updated sequencing report about the recent severe H5N1 human case in Louisiana.

As always, Dr. Rasmussen has the nuanced and detailed take on the results. 🧪
Updated CDC technical report on the Louisiana case is out.

There are low frequency mutations in HA that indicate adaptation in a human host—specifically this human host.

But this doesn’t really change much in terms of estimating pandemic risk.

I get being shocked by it but I do not get how many people seem to not get that wantonly denied health coverage leads to killing people & if you kill the people someone else loves often enough then eventually you will pick a victim whose someone is willing to kill back, this used to be common sense.
Vigilantism is wrong. But something in society is deeply broken if someone is motivated to murder over health coverage.

I've spent many years traveling, exploring, and monitoring conditions in the Mojave desert, and this post is more relevant than most people know. So much fragile desert ecology is destroyed to put in thousands of acres of solar... we don't need an energy transition. We need less consumption.
The Mojave desert tortoise says: “So I am supposed to sacrifice 100,000 acres of my habitat for renewable energy development and head towards extinction so you humans can hold a Formula 1 race in Las Vegas?” #NotHelpingClimate

Buddy we are already in the climate crisis and it’s not getting better any time soon people are already dying this is unacceptable either way and if you think an economy oriented around profit instead of human need and well being is better suited to fixing it you will see soon enough
Over 80% of the world’s economy operates under capitalism.

2010-2022 grid scale solar became 88% cheaper, while onshore wind became 68% cheaper.

1991-2018 Li-ion storage became 97% cheaper.

Capitalism drove these economies of scale & is accelerating trends that make 100% sustainability possible.
The capitalists are the ones killing us for money. Hope this helps
