One of the things at that link is an anthology of Cahiers du Cinema, including a 1955 review of Rear Window - but not by Truffaut.

It's incredible how much of a non-story this is. You get five whole sentences in, and what the fuck are we doing here?

A corporate messaging account follows thousands of accounts, some of them are follow-farming pornbots. Call in the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.
Sentences 5 and 6 of the Axios story (link below). Sentence 5 is bolded in the beginning as a section heading (the one previous section was biographical notes about Talarco) and sentence 6 is the first bullet point in the section. Text of the two sentences: Talarico's spokesperson JT Ennis said in a statement that "the social media team — including James — follows back and engages with supporters who have large followings and does not investigate their backgrounds." The Instagram accounts Talarico follows typically have at least 50,000 followers. Talarico and his campaign team both use his account. He has more than 1.7 million followers but follows only about 3,700 people. Note that "only about 3,700 people" is in itself bullshit on stilts. I don't know about the Bodegas of New York but in mini marts elsewhere in the country you can often buy the Methadone of fireworks.
A box of "POP-ITS", a trademark for a product sometimes generically called a "bang snap". Little paper bags containing sand and silver fulminate, that makes a loud pop (and blows the bag open making a very small mess) when the bag is thrown against a hard surface. No fire danger or direct harm is likely, and they're popular with schoolkids, who unfortunately sometimes use them to harass other people, or animals.

Pat Buchanan says build a wall around the whole US to protect against devastating seaborne attacks and you call him a loon but it nearly worked when L. Taylor recommended it in Pacific Rim.
The character "L. Taylor" in the film "Pacific Rim", the designated spokesperson for building a giant wall around the US to protect it from seaborne Kaiju. It's a dark-haired white guy in a suit and tie from the shoulders up, looking very formal and serious, photographed as if on a television screen. The actor's name is Robin Taylor Grossman. I think I'm being attacked here. I'm not really sure.

I do think it's crappy that it's possible to quote-post someone and not have that count as "mentioning" them for the purposes of who's allowed to reply.
Cooper Lund quoting my post (the one just above), saying: "Damn, this is an all time smug response to people realizing that their feed is being influenced by the whims of a stranger who might be grinding personal axes" I think I'm the smug person here? But I'm not sure, because the description of "people realizing that their feed is being influenced by the whims of a stranger who might be grinding personal axes" doesn't necessarily apply when people choose a properly labeled and maintained blocklist? Sure, blocklists can be abused by their creators, it happens all too often, but that was *not* the complaint here. This person was accurately labeled by blocklists intended to keep out posts from people like them. They admit that! They just think it sucks! So either Lund is way off, or I'm misreading them. I don't follow Lund, so I'm even less sure, and also I can't reply and ask, because the reply-limiting system doesn't count a quote-post as a mention, apparently. It really seems to me that quoting someone is mentioning them.

I'm pretty sure this is the first one of these I made, a couple of years ago, and it matches the old "Report This Post" dialog, from back before you had to select a moderation service when reporting a post. So It actually makes me feel old just to post it!
