I think most people would be surprised by how many adoptees would answer yes to that abhorrent question. What I really wanted, as an adoptee, was no societal religious shame for my 17 yo pregnant mother AND tangible resources given to her to keep me. And then a choice.

Every time i hear this argument i wonder what difference it would have made in my birth mother's life if she had been given the fee my adoptive parents paid for me. She died before i found her. I don't know. But i do wonder what $x would have done for her and her ability to care for me.

Hi there! 3 years ago I was able to request a copy of my original birth certificate. I learned my birth mother had given me a name. My official birth certificate has the name my adopted parents gave me.
