THIS. THIS is SO important to make clear, because this administration wants you to believe (and likely *they* truly believe) that an EO is a binding law that everyone must immediately capitulate to. Trump could sign an EO that the sun turn blue, that doesn't make it law or fact.
It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

Federal civilian employees account for just 4% of the federal budget. Even if someone like Musk—or any president—fired all of us, it wouldn’t make much of a dent in government spending. Don’t fall for it.
