Crossroads:
Add lore and other things to sapirica (large, unwieldly)
Make different tiny game that might blow up in scope (learning experience, may implode)

Looking through old art and found this supposed meme piece I kept adding and tweaking into what it is now

Thinking about Sapirica on and off. It's not back on full production but I am thinking about the world it's set in.

It's fun to fantasize about the history of it. It's helping me get motivated as the lack of lore is bothering me but also it is blowing my scope more in a different way

Poking at the idea of Sapirica through the lore perspective.

Magic as conduction and markings/runes (synthetic in robes or drawn symbols or natural through markings in bones and skin) as conductors.

Magic system in a linguistic, neuroplastic, and habit/neural pathway, nurture(not nature) way.

I tried a test run of defeating the ender dragon on a throw-away world and the Minecraft Ender Dragon fight is so fascinating. Especcially the fact that you can just technically ignore the ender dragon, save only for the reason of neeeeding an exit to get food and supplies.

Added a sigil system to my game. I feel much more relaxed and I'm starting to enjoy doing game dev when I don't pressure myself to make anything complete or "marketable."

Really excited about Joker Studio's next work. Their art style and animation is amazing as always and even better than before.

I'm also extremely glad they're doing an RPG because Identity V had so much writing blocks due to just the nature of the game ToT

Taking a break had been useful as I'm finally able to view some mechanics back into their separate parts.

I've been seeing a lot of Horse Race Tests and its honestly quite inspiring as a dev. Looking at it from a game development standpoint the races "play themselves," serving as an interesting example of things that constitute and create themselves. #HorseRaceTests

I shouldn't have deleted my first thread oops I forgot bluesky doesnt have drafts yet---

I have some unfortunate news. After a long diliberation I have decided to shelve my current project, Sapirica, for now.

the first experiment i'm doing is assembling 'words' out of random components. you can tell it's going to be cool because it invented the word 'fuk'

Getting some mean ideas about a possible new project playing around with procedurally generated animations.

I do not know how to make procgen anims yet but learning pathfinding is giving me ideas...

Figured out how pathfinding works and its crazy good. Was able to make this snake enemy in a test project and I am so giddy of the amount of things I can make with pathfinding eventually.

Checking up on my progress. I am fairly satisfied with the amount of work I've done on the first level, I'll leave the maps and info I've gotten to marinade in my head first as I look into other aspects of game and level design that are affected by maps
Here's the project plan I have for my project. While my concepts do have potential to be big, I'm planning to end it in a prototype/proof of concept stage with 5 levels at most, including the hub and a boss level.

welp, this blew up. I didn't make an in depth discussion of this on this thread but I might make an essay about it and post it on a website. I don't have a website yet so I'll look into that and maybe look into posting on itch instead (I learned the platform I chose might not be the best)
Breaking my, well, break to say I've been doing a preliminary research on dungon layouts. There's a lot of different types depending on the game, some simulate roguelike combat while others prioritize story.

from awhile ago to now, I have experimented with pathfinding (as suggested by @castor-games.bsky.social, thank you very much my friend), a hodge-podged a preliminary gesture system, and auxillary but important credits page.

I will post photos and videos next update after some more aggregation!

Found a level switch bug that arises from teleporting. I think hmmm... What I thought to be a simple, dream feature is proving to be difficult... I feel sorry for my friend who I requested this feature from :')
