Also, my name is still on the buzzer next door for an apartment I moved out of in 2002.

At this point I expect it'll still be there after I die.

You can't go home again. But for me this is about as close as it gets.

We had our first date here. Became regulars over ~20 years. Celebrated just about everything here.

On my last visit four-ish years ago the bartender said, "You'll always have a place here."

He lived up to that tonight.

Departure from BOS. Arriving JFK. Wonderfully uneventful flight.

Helped many people sort the AirTrain and subway situation, just like when I lived here. Good times.

Part of JetBlue's marketing for its EvenMore seats is dedicated overhead space. It does not enforce that at all, however. 🤷

Whole bunch of folks sitting in the back with bags up front and vv.

Ok, original seat on the original flight. Not the original plane, but that's a good thing, as this one seems to be functional.

For the 5th consecutive flight thr Blueprint personalization system of the IFE is busted.

The emergency AD that grounded all the MD-11F after the UPS crash has been expanded to include DC-10s, too.

It also includes the KC-10A tankers, which were retired at the end of 2024.

JetBlue adds Boston-Milan/Barcelona for Summer 2026. Routes will be served daily. LGW, MAD, EDI, DUB all return for the season as well, while AMS, LHR, CDG remain year-round.

JFK brings back AMS/DUB/EDI seasonal while LHR/CDG remain year-round.

Some rough numbers for Spirit in August and September (it breaks out data monthly rather than quarterly while in Ch11).

Even excusing $114M in reorg items in September, those numbers are brutal.

Approximately 160 unique airlines flown; the ones in yellow are probably a subsidiary/regional that I couldn't really book directly.

Of the 1987 flights, 927 were on unique "lines" (e.g. BOS-EWR and EWR-BOS would only count once), touching 360 unique airports ("dots").

Excellent questions from Rob.

My data is pretty solid since 1999 thanks to email confirmations, expense reports, and TripIt. Prior to that just what I could remember of my travels in college and before. Though I did find red carbon receipts from a 1993 trip to Europe.

Missed this milestone when it happened, but a couple months ago on ORF-BOS I surpassed 3 million logged miles flown (on an airport-to-airport basis).

And if my plans hold I'll pass 2,000 flight segments in mid-January.

Per today's announcement the 35 are still in the Boeing backlog.

Airplane engines don't really like oceans.

The FAA has a proposed AD because some CFM34s "operated infrequently over the two-year period...and stored in close proximity to a saltwater coastline" erroneously reported "Engine Degraded" on EICAS. Risk of engine locking at idle while inflight.

A company that makes paper cutlery for airlines is getting in to the World Cup hype, offering "collectible cutlery range themed around participating nations, ideal for inflight or special menus."

Goofy, for sure. But also maybe adorable? Just like me.

Worth noting that the bilateral between Turkey and Malaysia appears to allow AirAsiaX to select up to three destinations to be served in this manner.

The same agreement allows TK to operate its SYD flights via KUL.

The carrot cake situation escalated. I am almost entirely to blame.

Still no regrets. Except maybe that the extracted round bit was too small a portion.

Back on my bots bullshit, this time with a political angle. Say hello to @nh.legisbot.us.

As the 2026 session ramps up in NH I've got a bot posting bill docket info. It starts when a bill is published, including the description and sponsors. Additional docket actions are threaded below.

On the pad just before launch, and successful payload fairing separation. Then Centaur engine ignition.

Another aurora shot from last night, out our kitchen window. Managed to get the neighbor's US flag in there, too

Yields and average fares were up, but total volume and LFs were down.

Aircraft utilization dropping to just 7.3 hours/day is pretty terrible for a U/LCC. Frontier is at 8.7 (also down YoY).
November 11, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Taking a look at Spirit's Q3 numbers and, uhhh, ouch.

Revenue down ~20% YoY, somewhat expected given the capacity cuts. Notably, lease & maintenance costs didn't go down (yet). That should change for Q4 with the lease rejections.

And that's after the $113M gain, mostly sale/leaseback.
November 11, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Did the flight cancellations over the weekend reduce passenger numbers at the airport? TSA throughput data suggests the answer is no, or at least not much.

Also, maybe not enough advance warning for pax to change plans?
November 11, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Delta approaching 500 mainline cancels today, 14% of its operations. Nearly a third of Southwest ops delayed (likely means cxls later in the day).

"Just like a winter storm" is a cute description of the FAA cuts, but it is on top of an actual winter storm, and will last for many days.
